FOOTPRINTS 2025
I've been hired to rewrite a classic piece of Christian Poetry
I’m thrilled to announce I’ve been hired to reimagine Footprints in the Sand.
Growing up, this poem graced so many fridge magnets and was quoted in nearly every youth group slideshow. So when I got the opportunity to adapt it for a new generation, I jumped at the chance.
In early talks with the Pope (yes, he uses Microsoft Teams instead of Zoom. Barf!), we agreed: it was time for an update, something that spoke to the spiritually anxious, always rattled generation of today.
This isn’t your parents’ Footprints.
The sand is digital. The footprints are engagement BUT the faith is still THE FAITH.
Please enjoy for the 1st time ever…Footprints (2025)
One night,
I was looking back through my Instagram,
just scrolling through the years,
trying to understand my life.
In every post, I saw two names at the top: mine and God’s.
Usually, He’d liked the photo.
Sometimes even commented:
“Proud of you ❤️” or
“You got this 🙏.”
But then I noticed something strange.
During the hardest periods of my life;
the messiest,
most off-the-rails,
deep-in-my-flop-era moments,
there was no heart from Him.
Not on the photo of me getting a tattoo that said “NO REGERTS.”
Not on the blurry Boomerang of me lighting a couch on fire “as a bit.”
Not on the three months where I only posted screenshots of DMs I didn’t send.
These were the lowest points of my life.
And he scrolled right past.
So I said to Him,
“Lord, you promised you’d be with me always.
But when I needed validation the most BUT when I was fully lost,
you didn’t like a single post.
Not even ironically.”
And the Lord replied,
“My child,
the times when you saw no heart from Me…
those were the times
I was sharing you to my Stories.”

As he famously said in the Sermon on the Mount: Blessed are they who post without expectation, Blessed are they who lack engagement.
