New Name. New Book. Same Paul.
Live in Toronto, A Karate Movie, Roller Coasters & Chicago Mother's Day Improv
This newsletter has a new name:
Scheer Nonsense
Because Three Things sounded like a minimalist lifestyle blog, and that is a very exclusive NEWSLETTER. That you can’t afford.
This rebrand changes absolutely nothing except the title and maybe the font. When I first started this Substack, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted it to be—and to be honest, I still don’t.
But Scheer Nonsense feels a little closer to whatever this is becoming.
Plus, it’s a pun. We all love puns. Right? Right?
Honestly, my first choice—Lake Wobegon Stories—was taken.
And Scheer Genius just felt like… too much.

Joyful Recollections of Trauma — Now in Paperback!
It’s been a year since the book came out, and I want to say: thank you.
To everyone who bought it, read it, shared it, or reached out to say it meant something, truly, it’s been amazing. This whole experience has felt bigger and more personal than I ever expected.
And now, the paperback is here—and I wanted to do something a bit different for the occasion.
So I added over 20 new pages—including a new essay and some stories that were originally cut (for space, pacing, and thematic reasons).
And I also built a whole JROT SPECIAL FEATURES section on my website, open to everyone:
Never-before-seen videos (like me meeting Michael Landon, eating the poison ice cream bar, Chyna giving me a concussion)
There are a ton of photos from UCB
Then I included scripts, artifacts (Can I call them artifacts?), and moments that partner with stories in the book
It’s basically the bonus features section of a DVD that doesn’t exist.
